Choosing an Arabica–Robusta Blend Ratio for Milk Coffee

A20-R80, A50-R50 or A80-R20? Here's how to read our blend codes and pick the best one for your drinks.

Choosing an Arabica–Robusta Blend Ratio for Milk Coffee

At Jam Kopi, our blends have codes like A30-R70%. It simply means 30% arabica and 70% robusta.

How to read the code - A = percentage of arabica - R = percentage of robusta - N (on the premium blend) = percentage of natural-process arabica

How the ratio changes the taste - More robusta (A20-R80, A30-R70): strong, boldly bitter, heavy body. Still packs a punch with lots of milk and palm sugar — ideal for trendy iced milk coffee. - Balanced (A40-R60, A50-R50): bitterness and acidity in balance, with aroma starting to shine. A safe pick for everyday espresso and cappuccino. - More arabica (A70-R30, A80-R20): more aromatic and softer, with more noticeable acidity. Great for lattes or drinking black.

Tips for cafés 1. Decide on your signature drink first: iced milk coffee, latte or black coffee. 2. Try 2–3 ratios in 250g bags before buying in bulk. 3. Write down your brew ratio so the taste stays consistent.
